PUTREFACTIVE EFFECT fanzine

First release of the young label Great Dane records gathering two bands from north France with 4 trax both, two different representations of death metal.

DISGUST was born in 1990 and released three demos and a full-length in 2000. Then the band became silent due to some line up change and finally here are four new trax of brutal death metal with old school feeling. DISGUST manages to combine US and Swedish influences for a great result. I don't know their previous works, but these four tracks are well built; imagine a mix of old DEICIDE with some GRAVE riff approach. They also remind me a lot of INVERTED or IMMERSED IN BLOOD.

SCARVENGER was created in 2000 and released two promos until these 4 tracks. The style is very different from DISGUST, more old school death metal. Many influences crossed my mind such as DEATH, CORONER or PESTILENCE but that's not surprising because Ch'blond (guitar/voice) is a huge fan of those bands. His vocals are very close to John Tardy, it's sometimes really astonoshing. The tracks are mostly mid tempo in a death/thrash way, with a bass guitar doing a nice job. It's not bad at all, the major reproach I would mention is the absence of guitar solos which could give another dimension to SCARVENGER's music.
